i've been working for a bit more than 2 months for an alternative transport awareness project. this involves looking at maps and finding streets etc. through the process i have come to realise some things about street names (well, in the southern suburbs at least). street names here are so different from those back home. i think developers back home lack some creativity. i mean, jalan 2/25?? they could have just picked a random word from the kamus.. but there probably isn't enough words to go round.. hmmm..
anyway.. back to them street names... there's an area where the streets are named after places in the uk (sussex st, westminister st, canterbury tce); and then there's another area which has an astronomy thing going on (solar st, star st, solar way, galaxy st). see.. even though these street names aren't highly creative.. at least its a word.. not a number/number... ok i'm rambling... but it sorta makes you think how the process of street names come about. i remember in one episode of gilmore girls, the town council decided to take on the original names roads to give them a more small town feel. and the lorelia's inn was on some street that had something or other to do with warts and sore.. revolting no? where the heck do people come up with street names?
hmm.. i think i shall stop my ramblings... this was just a thought that occured to me..
on another note... i STILL cannot believe that japan got a whooping from the socceroos... in the last 10 mins of the game!! goes to show that it ain't over till it's over. i do believe some people may have lost quite a bit of cash on this game.

:) Street names are fun. I lived in Taman delima, taman connaught, (jlaan arif), taman bukit cheras. Very nature-isque names. except the connaught one.
America has the fun ones. They're so big but you can have dozens of Paris streets all over the country. pfft
